Seattle Launch Event Recap

Cascade Middle School welcomed the Seattle Seahawks, United Way of King County (UWKC) and Verizon on September 27, 2016 to celebrate the local launch of Character Playbook. The Seahawks brought star players Tyler Lockett and K.J. Wright, team mascot “Blitz” and several Sea Gals to take part in the event.

Tyler and K.J. spent the initial part of the visit working with students as they went through Character Playbook modules in the school library. The players helped students make the correct decisions as they progressed through the course and even answered questions about life in the NFL.

Afterwards, 7th and 8th grade students packed the gymnasium, armed with Character Playbook rally towels and youthful exuberance to cheer on their guests from their favorite hometown team. Former Seahawks safety and current ESPN Seattle analyst, Jordan Babineaux, introduced Tyler and K.J., who were joined on stage by UWKC President & CEO, Jon Fine, and VP of WA State Government Affairs, Milt Doumit. Over the next 40 minutes, students were able to ask a number of questions about character and the struggles the players overcame to be successful. The event ended with a group photo that feature the players and more than 300 students waiving their rally towels in unison.
